Ram 1500 Ramcharger: 1100km Range Plug-in Hybrid Pickup
Ram Trucks Unveils 1500 Ramcharger: A Range-Extender Pickup with 1,100-Mile Range
Detroit, MI – Ram Trucks is shaking up the pickup truck market with the introduction of the 1500 Ramcharger, a groundbreaking model featuring Range Extender technology that boasts an impressive 1,100-mile range.
Set to hit U.S. dealerships in the first half of next year, the Ramcharger represents a strategic move by the automaker. While the fully electric Ram 1500 REV is slated for release no sooner than 2026, the Ramcharger bridges the gap, offering a compelling alternative for drivers seeking extended range without fully committing to an electric vehicle.
The Ramcharger is powered by two electric motors, each generating 250 kW and 238 kW respectively, for a combined output of 663 horsepower and a staggering 830 lb-ft of torque. A 92 kWh battery pack provides the primary source of energy, while a 130 kW (177 hp) generator acts as a range extender, ensuring drivers can go the distance.
Adding to its versatility, the Ramcharger features bidirectional charging capabilities. This allows owners to not only charge other Stellantis electric vehicles but also power their homes using the truck’s battery.
Performance is equally impressive. The Ramcharger sprints from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 4.4 seconds, while still offering a robust 2,400-pound payload capacity and a towing capacity of up to 13,700 pounds.
“The Ram 1500 Ramcharger delivers the best of both worlds: the instant torque and efficiency of electric power with the extended range and peace of mind of a range extender,” said [Insert Name], head of Ram Trucks. “This innovative truck is designed to meet the evolving needs of our customers, providing them with the capability and versatility thay demand.”
Following its U.S. launch, the Ramcharger is expected to become available in European markets as well.
