Rappers React to Pooh Shiesty and Gucci Mane Alleged Robbery

Federal charges have been filed against nine individuals, including rappers Pooh Shiesty and Big30, in connection with the alleged kidnapping and armed robbery of several victims at a recording studio in Dallas. The U.S. Department of Justice announced the charges on April 2, 2026, identifying Gucci Mane as one of the victims of the incident.

According to Ryan Raybould, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, the event took place on January 10, 2026. Three music industry professionals had traveled to Dallas for a meeting arranged by Pooh Shiesty to discuss the terms of a recording contract with one of the victims. Pooh Shiesty is currently signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records label.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office stated that the victims were kidnapped and robbed at gunpoint during this business meeting. Eight of the nine suspects were arrested on April 1, 2026, in operations spanning Dallas, Memphis, and Nashville. Those facing charges include Pooh Shiesty, Big30, and Lontrell Williams Sr., who is the father of Pooh Shiesty (born Lontrell Williams Jr.). Federal authorities allege that Williams Sr. Helped plan and execute the kidnapping.

Other suspects identified by the U.S. Attorney’s Office include Kedarius Waters, Damarian Gipson, Demarcus Glover, Kordae Johnson, Darrion McDaniel, and Terrance Rodgers. While most suspects have been apprehended, reports indicate that Rodgers had not been arrested as of the initial reporting by Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA.

The legal consequences for the accused are severe, as the suspects face up to life in prison if convicted of the charges.

Industry Reactions

The announcement of the federal charges sparked a series of reactions from high-profile figures in the hip-hop community on social media.

Rapper 50 Cent posted a comment on Instagram, which was later deleted, referencing a 2005 incident involving Gucci Mane and the killing of Pookie Loc, a Young Jeezy associate. 50 Cent also shared a clip from the Department of Justice press conference, adding the caption, Stay tuned to this weeks episode of, who told them that! LOL, suggesting the possibility that an informant provided information to authorities.

Memphis rapper Finesse2tymes offered his own perspective, stating his belief that a security guard for Gucci Mane—who is reportedly a retired police officer—may be cooperating with the government against Pooh Shiesty.

Rick Ross also commented on the situation, expressing that business dealings should not escalate to the point where criminal acts are committed. Ross stated, I don’t like it for either side.

Representatives for Pooh Shiesty were unavailable for comment at the time of the reports, and outreach to representatives for Gucci Mane and Big30 was initiated by media outlets.
