A rare individual golden-fronted box turtle in the Central region, classified as an endangered wild animal, was recently discovered by a household in Thua Thien Hue province in the family’s garden.

This individual turtle weighing 0.4kg was discovered by Ms. Ngo Thi Nham (residing in A Luoi town, A Luoi district) in her garden and voluntarily contacted the authorities to hand it over.

According to Mr. Sao, the Central region’s golden-fronted box turtle (scientific name Coura bourreti) is a wild animal belonging to group IB, endangered, precious, rare, and prioritized for protection.

The central region’s golden-fronted box turtle is an endemic species, distributed from Khanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue.
