Rasan al-Mubarak at the helm of the Global Environment Organization

Dubai Rasan al-Mubarak has been elected president of the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The decision was made at the World Conservation Congress in Marseille, France. Razan is also the Managing Director of the Mohammed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund and the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency. She is the second woman to be elected to the leadership of the Union in 72 years and the first person since 1978 to hold the presidency from the Arab region.

She said she was very happy to be elected the 15th president of the union and would continue to work for sustainability. Razan was also the youngest person to head a government agency when he took over as secretary general of the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency in 2010.
