Baltimore Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta expects quarterback Lamar Jackson to have a massive year during the 2026 season as the team transitions to a new offensive system.

Speaking on May 12, 2026, during an appearance on 105.7 The Fan, DeCosta stated that Jackson has embraced the changes occurring within the organization. Jackson, a two-time MVP, is currently adapting to the system implemented by new Offensive Coordinator Declan Doyle.

DeCosta noted that Jackson participated in the team’s voluntary offseason workouts in April 2026 and has shown significant energy while learning the new offensive terminology and approach.

The General Manager’s optimism comes as Jackson works to return to form following a season that was hampered by injuries.

Regarding Jackson’s standing in the league and his potential for the upcoming season, DeCosta provided the following assessment:

Lamar is, in my opinion, the most talented player in the league, and I think he’s excited and we expect him to have a massive year. I love Lamar as a person and as a player, everything he brings to this community. And I think that if anybody has a chance to get their third MVP this year, it’s going to be Lamar Jackson. Beyond the offensive changes, DeCosta addressed the team’s defensive depth, specifically regarding the edge rusher position. When asked if the Ravens would seek additional veteran talent such as Joey Bosa or Jadeveon Clowney, DeCosta indicated that the current roster provides sufficient depth.

The Ravens’ current edge rotation includes Trey Hendrickson, Tavius Robinson, and Mike Green, as well as Adisa Isaac and recently drafted Zion Young. DeCosta explained that the team utilizes a rotation strategy, with most players in that group receiving between 30 and 40 reps.

While DeCosta acknowledged that the team could always benefit from high-level talent, he expressed confidence in the existing group of rushers.

The 2026 offseason has been characterized by a series of veteran returns aimed at restoring toughness and experience to the roster. Offensive lineman John Simpson has returned to Baltimore, with team reports indicating a focus on restoring offensive toughness and a nastier mentality.

the Ravens have brought back veteran defensive end Calais Campbell. Campbell, who is 40 years old, has publicly discussed his decision to continue playing at a high level and rejoin the organization.

These additions contribute to a roster that has been projected as a top 10 unit in the league, although internal assessments suggest two specific position groups still have room for improvement.

Other recent roster movements include the signing of veteran defensive back K’Von Wallace. The team is also integrating new talent such as Ja’Kobi Lane and rookie wide receivers into the lineup for the 2026 campaign.

The Ravens are currently preparing for the release of the NFL schedule, with expectations of several marquee matchups and potential prime-time appearances in 2026.
