According to the entry list for the 2024 F1 season published by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile), it has been confirmed that a company called “Racing Bulls” has joined Red Bull’s second team.
However, a representative of the team that raced last year as AlphaTauri confirmed that the initials of the new name, “RB,” do not stand for “Racing Bulls” or another phrase, RaceFans reported.
A new name has been announced for next season, incorporating new sponsorships from two financial services companies, one of which was already sponsored by Red Bull. AlphaTauri will participate in the F1 World Championship in 2024 under the new team name “Visa Cash App RB”.
The acronym “RB” appeared for the first time in the 2024 entry list published by the FIA last month. The team entered under the title “Scuderia AlphaTauri RB”, with the chassis identified as “RB”.
The appearance of the name “Racing Bulls” led to speculation that the initials could represent the new title. Last year, a company owned by Red Bull trademarked the “Racing Bulls” name and logo. This name now appears on the team’s website and is also used as the email domain name.
However, the team says the RB identity is intended to be closer to the Red Bull branding. The link was less obvious when he was racing with AlphaTauri, but for the previous 14 years he had used the Italian word for Red Bull, Toro Rosso. The team now calls itself VCARB.
Therefore, the team may be called “RB” or “VCARB”.
Title sponsor Visa says the team’s nickname will be decided by the fans.
“It’s up to the fans to decide what to call it. That’s the official name we’ve brought to market,” said Andrea Fairchild, senior vice president of global sponsorship strategy at Visa.
“We understand this complex equation with all the brands involved, but we are confident that we will listen to the feedback and find some really interesting nuances that we think our fans will appreciate.”
