Jeong Jin-woon returns to the screen with ‘Rebound’

Actor Jeong Jin-woon wanted to burden director Jang Hang-joon. He wanted me to think that I had no choice but to cast while watching myself who had prepared a lot. After meeting with director Jang, he poured out ideas for tanning and things that Kyu-hyeok would use at work. For Jeong Jin-woon, appearing in ‘Rebound’ was very hopeless.
Jeong Jin-woon expressed his confidence in the movie ‘Rebound’ through an interview held at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 3rd. ‘Rebound’ is a work that depicts the miraculous story of the 2012 High School Basketball National Championship, where a new coach and 6 players from the weakest basketball team ran without rest for 8 days. The impression that six players had at the 2012 National High School Basketball Tournament was moved to the screen.

Jeong Jin-woon takes on the role of Kyu-hyeok, who took control of middle school basketball with Ki-beom (Lee Shin-young), but gave up his dream due to injury. Jeong Jin-woon also underwent surgery four times for a sore ankle, and the situation is also the same with small forward. He thought, ‘If you let me play the role of Kyu-hyeok, I can do well’. He said, “The height difference between me and Kyu-hyuk is 1cm. In his greed for ‘rebound’, Jinwoon Jeong prepared a lot before the meeting. “Usually, I don’t raise so many questions and ideas during meetings. But I did to prepare so much that the director thought he couldn’t say no because it was demanding,” explained Jeong Jin-woon.
Jeong Jin-woon, who released various ideas at the meeting, put a lot of effort into the work. He said, “I think I went through a tanning machine about 10 times. Wherever I went, I heard a lot of stories saying, ‘Why are you so black?’ It didn’t end here. Jeong Jin-woon also prepared the shoes that Kyu-hyeok wore. Of course, getting this stuff was not easy. The shoes that Jinwoon Jeong wore while acting were so difficult to wear them until people said, “Why are you buying these?” He even went to the place where he bought shoes and repaired them and said, “Please take care of me. You have to wear these for filming.” So the shoes were completed, but I had to be very nervous because I didn’t know when they would break during filming. The ‘Rebound’ stylist team did helped Jeong Jin-woon to make sure the filming went smoothly.

Jinwoon Jeong is famous as an actor who is good at basketball in real life. However, when filming ‘Rebound’, I needed to change my basketball style. Jeong Jin-woon said, “I started training with the thought of imitating elite basketball, and I melted Kyu-hyeok’s habit.” He continued, “I wiped my sweat on my underwear. The underwear (sweat) dries well, and the outfit gets heavy when wet. I also walked and put my pants on my knees. When the pants stretch, they come down and the clothes fall off. This is a feature that is often seen by players.” he said.
I tried, but there were times when I was overcome with anxiety. The director praised Jang a lot for his good acting, but at first, these words raised the question, ‘Don’t you have any expectations for me?’ However, when I saw a CG director and editorial director who said, “Jinwoon-ssi, this scene was so good,” I thought, “Director Jang Hang-joon said that because he really liked it.” Director Jeong Jin-woon looked at him as a person with great charisma. Jeong Jin-woon’s words, “Isn’t it difficult to entertain one person? I think it is very difficult to set the table so that many people can enjoy it without stress,” showing respect to director Jang.

Jinwoon Jeong wants to let people know that he is continuing his efforts as an actor through ‘Rebound’. Also, I hope the public will look at him as actor Jeong Jin-woon, not as a member of the group 2AM. He said, “Of course, my greed is to ask not to be prejudiced. I didn’t do many activities (as a singer) to look at me only as an actor.” I just want to prove that I’m trying to ‘bounce’ through this film. Jeong Jin-woon said, “I hope that ‘Rebound’ plays a big role in making actor Jin-woon Jeong feel less awkward.”
Another film in which he starred, ‘I am here’, is also visiting theaters around the same time. Jeong Jin-woon said, “I think, ‘Because I work hard on acting, I can have two different posters in the theater.’ Rather than thinking that I will be prolific, I want to create times where I can go about it naturally as an actor. ‘Jung Jin-woon can act with a wide spectrum. It seems like an opportunity to bring it to the public, so I’m really excited.” His goal is to hear people say, “That friend acts very naturally.” Jeong Jin-woon, who says he wants to feel free instead of a burden when taking on new acting, is preparing to jump again.
‘Rebound’, which will test Jeong Jin-woon’s acting spectrum, will be released in theaters on the 5th.
