Due to the high prices these days, many users try to find a place that is even cheaper.

Domestic ‘e-commerce’ companies that have launched discount events by promoting so-called ‘super-low prices’ on a large scale are said to have achieved sales of 100 billion won, the highest ever in one day.

Reporter Lim Hyun-joo reports.

20 kilograms of rice fetched 59,900, and 20 packs of wet tissue fetched around 32,000, each marked with a 30% discount.

G Market and Auction, which offered massive discounts of up to 80%, reached 113 billion won in sales on the first day.

This event has been held for 8 years, and it is the first time that the transaction amount on the first day exceeded 100 billion won.

They tried to secure customers by offering a car worth almost 20 million won as a prize along with various discount benefits.

“This is because we have collaborated with brand manufacturers to bring a large number of unique benefits and unique special products, and there are many discount benefits such as expensive coupons and instant benefits from credit card companies.”

The items that sold the most were household appliances and daily necessities.

Robot vacuum cleaners, air conditioners, and refrigerators, which were relatively expensive but heavily discounted, were sold in large quantities, and above all, daily necessities such as cola, wet wipes, and rice were at the top of the items and bought.

In particular, customers sensitive to cheap daily necessities have flocked to the area amid high prices.

″If you pay with a designated card, you can receive an additional discount, so you can enjoy even more discounts… ″

Aggressive discounting is also an effect of competition.

This is a strategy to capture customers trying to leave Coupang due to the recent annual increase in fees and to counter the very low price marketing of Chinese companies such as Ali and Temu.

Competing malls like Naver, 11th Street, and Timon are also jumping in with their own discounts and giveaways.

As the burden on consumers increases due to high inflation, competition in the delivery industry for ‘very low price’ discounts is expected to intensify.
