Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing’s F1 team representative, is confident that the team will be able to solve the DRS problem that occurred in Max Verstappen during the first practice session of the 2022 F1 Round 8 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen’s DRS flaps began to vibrate at high speeds during their first practice session at the Baku City Circuit, which features a particularly long and pumpy acceleration zone. Red Bull Racing brought his car and his teammate Sergio Perez’s car into the garage for checking.
After the first session, Christian Horner said, “Of course, we confirmed that, we have data about it and can compare it to the Sergio wing, so we’re sure for this afternoon. I think there are some fixes that need to be made to eradicate it, “he told Sky Sports F1.
Max Verstappen is experiencing DRS problems at the Spanish Grand Prix. Qualifying forced him to give up his final Q3 attack, and although the team seemed to have fixed it for Sunday, it recurred in the final, hindering efforts to overtake George Russell.
Christian Horner pointed out that the difference in specifications between the two cars may explain the problem Max Verstappen encountered today.
“Weight has always been an important factor, and we’re clearly pursuing it everywhere in the car,” said Christian Horner.
“There was a difference in the car, so I hope we can solve it this afternoon just by checking the setup and rigidity.”
Red Bull Racing also encountered DRS issues at the end of last season, but subsequent changes in technical rules mean that the team’s current design is significantly different.
Christian Horner has revealed that Red Bull Racing’s rival team has already inquired about the behavior of the wing to the FIA (International Automobile Federation), but said that the movement of the flaps improved the car’s performance. I denied it.
