Red Bull F1, secretly updated on the floor of RB18 / F1 British GP[F1-Gate .com]

Red Bull Racing puts up guede on the RB18 at the F1 British Grand Prix. Attention was focused on the bodywork of the engine cover, including what looks like a shelf on the side pods. However, it was revealed that Red Bull Racing made some interesting changes to the floor of the RB18 in a place that was not caught by the radar.

The new design did not appear in the pre-event FIA change notification as the team did not have to build a completely new assembly.

This year, F1 teams have become more common in patchwork-like stitching to floor designs, allowing floor sections to be swapped without much hassle.

The new floor was only installed on Max Verstappen’s car in Friday’s practice, and the previous version was installed on teammate Sergio Perez’s car.

This is intended to collect comparative data about the upgrade before applying it to both cars, after making sure there is a good correlation between the team’s simulation tools and the actual environment. You can commit to the rest of the race weekend.

The new design also applies Ferrari’s design, which became known as the “ice skating” solution at the beginning of the season.

Red Bull Racing combines F1-75’s applied ice skating with edge wings on the underside of the car instead of the top, with additional design features.

This creates a floor cutout in front of the rear tire spat area, which not only facilitates changes in the geometry of the two floor sections, but also exposes the tongue-like wings connected to the skates.
