LONDON (EFE) ‍- Reform UK, a ‍right-wing party, made meaningful gains in recent English municipal‍ elections and ⁣plans to challenge the British⁤ goverment’s housing of migrants in ⁤areas now under its control, according to party President ​Zia Yusuf.

Party Leader Vows Legal Challenges to Migrant ⁤Housing

Yusuf, a businessman and major donor to the party, stated that Reform UK will‌ use “all available instruments” to prevent the government from housing asylum seekers in municipalities where the party now‌ governs.He suggested ‌potential legal challenges,precautionary measures,and leveraging urban planning ​laws,despite housing being primarily​ an executive branch responsibility.

“There are already litigation against‌ these hotels…becuase they‍ fail to⁣ comply with numerous regulations, and this is ⁣what our lawyers analyze at this time,” Yusuf saeid⁢ on a⁤ BBC program.

Reform UK to Cut Spending, Diversity Programs

Yusuf also announced that the 10 local councils now controlled by Reform UK will hire auditors to reduce‌ spending and​ eliminate departments focused on​ inclusion ⁢and diversity initiatives.

Election Results Show Gains for Reform UK

Led by Nigel Farage, a key ​figure in ⁤the Brexit movement, Reform UK secured 10 ‍municipal ‍councils and 677 ⁤council seats​ in Thursday’s elections, ​exceeding expectations. This progress ⁢came at the ⁣expense of the Conservative Party, which lost 674 council​ seats, falling⁣ to 319. The Labor Party also saw losses, dropping from 187 to 98 seats and failing to secure any councils.
