Relief Supplies Finally Reach Gaza Strip Amidst Ongoing Blockade and Airstrikes

Egyptian Red Crescent Arrives at Gaza Strip to Deliver Relief Supplies amidst Blockade

Residents in the Gaza Strip, who have been severely affected by Israel’s complete blockade and retaliatory airstrikes, finally received much-needed relief supplies.

As reported by AFP, at precisely 10:14 am on the 21st (local time), a truck loaded with essential relief goods for Gaza residents commenced its journey from the Rafah border checkpoint in Egypt, crossing over into the strife-torn region.

Regarded as the primary transit point between Egypt and the Palestinian Gaza Strip, the Rafah border crossing had remained closed for two weeks since the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Therefore, this reopening marks a significant milestone in the ongoing crisis.

Following US President Joe Biden’s visit to Israel on the 18th, both Israel and Egypt, under certain conditions, agreed to provide the Gaza Strip with 20 truckloads of relief supplies in the first phase. Nevertheless, obstacles such as road repairs, disrupted by Israeli bombings, led to delays in the arrival of the much-needed provisions.

Relief supplies for the residents of the Gaza Strip, who are in a critical situation due to Israel’s total blockade and retaliatory airstrikes, were brought in for the first time since the start of the war.

AFP reported that at 10:14 am on the 21st (local time), a truck carrying relief supplies for Gaza residents began crossing from the Rafah border checkpoint in Egypt into the Gaza Strip.

The Rafah border crossing, which is more or less the only passage connecting Egypt and the Gaza Strip in Palestine, was opened for the first time in two weeks since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas.

Previously, Israel and Egypt conditionally agreed to bring 20 truckloads of relief goods to the Gaza Strip in the first round following US President Joe Biden’s visit to Israel on the 18th.

However, the arrival of relief supplies has been delayed due to problems such as road repairs that have been blocked by Israeli bombing.
