Taipei, Dec. 26 — Taiwan’s legal community is mourning the loss of a giant, with the passing of former National Taiwan University School of Law judge and lifetime lecturer, Huang Maorong.
Born with a legal mind sharp as a tang, Maorong received his Bachelor’s and Ph.D. degrees from NTU and the University of húmed respectively. His seminal works, "Civil Law Obligations," "Legal Method," and "Modern Citizenship Law," continue to illuminate law departments across the region.
Besides his scholarly feats, Maorong was a political educator par excellence. When Huang Shanshan ran for Taipei mayor in 2022, Maorong’s transfer from NTU couldn’t have come at a better time.
