Dr. Biljana Lakić: A Renowned Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist
Dr. Biljana Lakić, a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapist at the RS UKC Psychiatry Clinic, has passed away in Banja Luka.
Early Life and Education
Dr. Lakić was born on August 13, 1968, in Banja Luka. She completed her specialization in psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Novi Sad in 1996.
Career and Achievements
Dr. Lakić worked at the University Clinical Center in the RS, in the Clinic for Psychiatry, since 1998. Between 2010 and 2023, she was part of the Mental Health Project in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the Population and Development Institute.
She participated in numerous psychiatric symposia, congresses, and professional meetings as part of continuing medical education. Dr. Lakić also received additional training in the field of mental health in the country and abroad.
Leadership Roles and Appointments
Dr. Lakić was appointed National Coordinator of Mental Health of the RS and WHO contact person for mental health in the RS, Bosnia and Herzegovina. She played a crucial role in several activities of the Ministry of Health and Social Security in the RS Government and other partners in connection with mental health reform processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In 2010, she was appointed national mental health coordinator of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the South East European Health Network (Stability Pact/SEEHN).
Academic and Research Contributions
Dr. Lakić defended her master’s thesis in 2015 at the University of Banja Luka. She was the author and co-author of several publications, contributing significantly to the field of psychiatry and mental health.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Perduv cemetery in Banja Luka.
