Renowned physicist Prof. Thanu Padmanabhan passes away | Kerala | Deshabhimani

Pune> Renowned Physicist Prof. Thanu Padmanabhan (64) passed away. He was suffering from a heart attack at his home in Pune. He was rushed to hospital but died later. He is a native of Thiruvananthapuram. He was the Dean of the Academic Department at the Pune Inter University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics. There he served as Distinguished Professor. The country has honored him with the Padma Shri. The Kerala Science Award, the highest scientific award of the State Government, has been conferred on Prof. The lower Padmanabhan had received.

Padmanabhan’s most important contribution was the further development of the general theory of relativity based on thermodynamics in emergency gravity. In 2008, he received a prize from the Gravity Research Foundation of the United States for his research.

Born in 1957 in Thiruvananthapuram. He graduated with a BSc (1977) and an MSc (1979) from the University College, University of Kerala with a gold medal. The first research paper was published at the age of 20 while studying for a BSc. The subject was general relativity.

He obtained his PhD in 1983 from TIFR, Mumbai. She has been at the Inter University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics in Pune since 1992. Zane is a Visiting Professor at the University of Newcastle University, Imperial College London, Caltech, Princeton and Cambridge Universities, a renowned particle physics research center in Switzerland.

He is best known for his work After the First Three Minutes – The Story of Our Universe (The Story of Our Universe After the First Three Moments), Theoretical Astrophysics, and An Invitation to Astrophysics. He co-authored a book, Gravity, Gage Theories and Cosmology, with Jayant Narliker. Kerala Sasthrasahithya Parishad has published the Malayalam translation of the book ‘The Story of Physics’ published by Vigyan Prasar, part of the Central Department of Science and Technology.

Wife: Dr. Vasanthi Padmaunabhan. He co-authored a book, The Dawn of Science, with Vasanthi. Daughter: Hamza Padmanabhan.
