On the 23rd, Chief Judge Park Hyun-jin of the Wonju Branch of the Wonju Branch of the Chuncheon District Court sentenced Mr. A (26 years old), indicted on charges of violating the Emergency Medical Services Law, to one year in prison and two years probation.
Additionally, Mr. A was ordered to undergo probation and attend 40 hours of alcohol treatment classes.

At 11.25am on June 11, Mr. A, who was taken to Wonju Emergency Department in an intoxicated state by the 119 emergency team and received an intravenous injection, cursed at Nurse B (31 years old , female) when she tried to wake him after the IV injection. He was indicted on charges of punching Mr B in the chest.
The charge also included causing a commotion for 20 minutes, spitting on the emergency room floor and biting the clothes of a security guard who was restraining him.

During the trial, Mr A appealed for leniency, claiming that he committed the crime accidentally when he woke up after falling asleep while drunk.
Chief Judge Park ruled: “The sentence was determined considering the fact that he has been punished seven times for violent crimes and that he committed this crime while on probation for property damage.”
