Sorry, please use a different browser. Shutdown ‘Republican-led’ US House of Representatives passes ‘TikTok ban bill’

The so-called TikTok Ban Act, which allows the Chinese video platform TikTok to be kicked out of the US App Store, was passed in the US House of Representatives.

The House of Representatives, where the Republican Party is the majority, passed this measure on the 13th local time with 352 votes in favor and 65 against.

The bill would ban TikTok from US app stores until TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, completely sells TikTok’s US operations.

The House’s handling of the TikTok ban is due to security concerns that US user data could be transferred to China, and foreign media such as the Associated Press predicted that it is unclear whether the bill will be able to pass in the Senate .
