Restaurant Employee Arrested for Arson in Incheon
Incheon Michuhol Police Station announced on the 3rd that it arrested Mr. A, in his 50s, as a red-handed offender on charges of setting fire to the restaurant where he works (arson of a Hyeonju building).
According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of setting fire to a restaurant in Juan-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon, at around 09:09 a.m. on this day.
After investigation, the police found that Mr. A, an employee at the restaurant, gathered clothes and lit them on fire with a lighter. Fortunately, there were no casualties in the fire, but the interior of the restaurant and some of its furniture were burned.
Fire authorities responded quickly to the incident, mobilizing 60 personnel and 23 pieces of equipment to completely extinguish the fire at 0:34, about 25 minutes after it started.
The police plan to investigate Mr. A’s specific motive for the crime.
A police official stated, “Mr. A was arrested as a red-light criminal,” and “I cannot provide further details because the investigation is ongoing.”
