Rev Up Your Fitness: Garmin Unveils Game-Changing Updates for Smartwatches and Cycling Computers
Garmin Japan Updates Garmin Coach and Wearable Devices
Garmin Japan has announced updates to Garmin Coach, a training plan for runners and cyclists in the Garmin Connect app, as well as new features for some wearable watches and cycling computers.
In addition to existing training plans for runners, Garmin Coach offers plans for cyclists. Select the date of your race or event and the desired distance in Garmin Connect to receive a personalized training plan to help you reach your goals.
You can also check the plan summary and weekly training schedule on the app, so you can keep track of your plans for the future. You can also choose a plan from the new “Garmin Running Coach” and “Garmin Cycling Coach”.
“Garmin Running Coach” now has a feature that allows you to adjust your plan depending on the conditions of the day. Even if a user completes his training perfectly that day, postpones a run due to illness, or stops mid-run due to high temperatures, a new plan will be adjusted according to the situation.
Garmin Cycling Coach creates a personalized training plan based on your performance and recovery status. You can check how your current ability will affect the course you intend to travel, such as height difference and distance. Recommended cycle plans for all levels are also available.
New Features for Wearable Devices and Cycling Computers
The wearable device has added a ”Garmin Share” communication function between Garmin users. You can share your saved locations, courses and workouts with friends who have Garmin watches or Edge cycling computers.
Enhanced Race Time Prediction allows you to receive more sophisticated race time predictions on your compatible Garmin watch based on your fitness level, training history and recent running performance.
The Edge cycling computer now enables you to receive alerts about hazards on your route (such as potholes and fallen trees) reported by other cyclists, and to post to warn other cyclists.
Group trip functionality has also been improved, allowing users to use Edge compatibility to support each other during group trips with messaging, location information sharing, crash detection alerts, and route guidance. It also includes a leaderboard during the climb and a reward function after the ride.
It is now possible to explore both paved and unpaved roads, and receive warnings when approaching unpaved sections.
