Government Prepares Measures to Reduce Budgetary Expenditure

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced on Monday that the Government, in addition to the tax amnesty measures, is preparing measures to reduce budgetary expenditure. However, local authorities will be largely exempt from these cuts.

After the PSD parliamentary group meeting, Marcel Ciolacu explained that investments are the government’s priority and that this aspect is considered essential when elaborating on the ordinance.

Priority is given to investments. This was taken into account when the ordinance was made, and it is normal for the central authorities to set the first example, stated the headteacher.

When asked if this method does not favor the mayors in the context of the election year, Ciolacu explained that everyone must contribute to the effort to reduce costs, but emphasized that investments remain a priority for the current year and for the future.

No, everyone has to be responsible, but we left it to the town halls to direct the money to investments. This is the year Romania developed the most and it is normal to create this foundation for the next year as well, Ciolacu replied.

When asked if this policy will continue even after the elections, Prime Minister Ciolacu replied: “Yes, why? Why would he stop?”
