Revival of cotton production: SOFITEX is also counting on the press

Men from the media, from various backgrounds, are in conclave this 1is March 2023 in Bobo-Dioulasso for an immersion workshop at the initiative of the Burkinabè Society of Textile Fibers (SOFITEX). Scheduled from 1is as of March 3, 2023, this workshop is a framework for strengthening participants’ knowledge of the cotton sector.

It is to meet the requirements of the sustainable revival of cotton production and cotton processing in a context of good governance that SOFITEX is holding this press immersion workshop, to lead this revival with it. According to the organisers, the challenges to be taken up which are imposed on the new management are prompting them to rethink and adapt their communication strategy; and put it at the center of the new policy to relaunch the sector.

Cotton production has been experiencing a reduction for several years, following a set of factors. The latter are not necessarily dependent on cotton companies or the cotton industry, says Boubacar Seye, CEO of SOFITEX. He confides that in a context of insecurity, “we could not, in any way, remain insensitive or inactive despite all the difficulties we face”.

The participants will be edified by several communications during these 72 hours such as the history and attempts to revive cotton production in Burkina Faso. Or “the place and role of cotton in the national economy”, “the place and role of the UNPCB in cotton production” among others. It should be noted that at the end of these 3 days of immersion for media professionals, a network of cotton journalists will be set up.
