Revolutionizing Cuisine: How Shenzhen’s Botinkit Robot Chefs Deliver Gourmet Dishes
Robots in the Kitchen: The Future of Cooking
A Shenzhen start-up, Botinkit, is promoting the idea that robots can prepare food as deliciously as human chefs. Shirley Chen Rui, the CEO, noted that while automation and artificial intelligence (AI) have transformed factories, the culinary industry remains largely traditional.
Chen pointed out that the kitchen industry is vast because everyone needs to eat. However, it has not embraced modern techniques yet. After running a restaurant for eight years, Chen struggled to find skilled chefs and maintain consistent food quality. She believes robots can help restaurants maintain quality, especially as they grow.
Botinkit has developed the Omni robot. This robot can stir-fry, stew, add seasoning, and clean up with minimal help from users. A person can select a recipe on the touch screen and follow the steps, even without cooking experience. Users can operate multiple Omni robots at once.
The company integrates AI to manage cooking temperature and seasoning levels effectively. Chen is also looking into using AI to create recipes that align with the evolving tastes of restaurants and customers.
