Revolutionizing Group Chats: WhatsApp Set to Introduce Game-Changing Search Feature for Channels
After being spotted working on a notification feature that would notify users of missed or new status updates from their contacts and a badge count feature that would indicate the number of unread messages in a particular chat filter, WhatsApp is now working on yet another handy feature. Captured.
WABetaInfo discovered that the messaging platform is developing a channel discovery feature. This search feature allows users to search for anything within their WhatsApp channel. If you’re on a channel and you’re looking for specific information, you’ll have to scroll through tons of messages to find that specific information. This is a very tedious task and ends up frustrating.
The upcoming WhatsApp search option within channels will allow you to search for specific information by simply entering a keyword or phrase. This makes it easier to find information in channels that send frequent updates each day, and you can easily use the search feature to find specific updates without having to scroll.

The search feature can be accessed by opening a WhatsApp channel, tapping the channel name, and then selecting the “Search” logo. Alternatively, users can access search options in regular chat by tapping the three-dot menu icon and selecting “Search.” Of note, a new WhatsApp channel search feature is in development and available to select WhatsApp Android beta testers. This feature is expected to be released to the general public in a future update.
This isn’t the only channel-related feature WhatsApp is developing. Apparently, the messaging platform will soon allow you to share channels via QR codes. Plus, QR codes for your channels allow you to print and paste them during events and meetings so attendees can scan them with their phones to instantly access your channels. Businesses can also print these QR codes on retail boxes to provide detailed information about the different products they sell through the channel.
