First Vice-President of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, announced Resolution No. 18 of 2024 regarding the establishment, formation and organization of the work of the Supreme Committee Sports Medicine. The text of the decision stated that, after reviewing the Law of Associations, Social and Cultural Clubs, and Private Bodies Working in the Field of Youth, Sports and Private Organizations, issued by Decree Act No. 21 of 1989 and its amendments, and Decree No. 61 of 2021, establishing the General Sports Authority and its amendments, and based on the proposal of the President Executive Director of the General Sports Authority and the Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee. It was decided to establish a committee under the name “The Supreme Committee of Sports Medicine” under our leadership, and it includes the Brigadier General, Doctor Sheikh Fahd bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Medical Services, as Vice Chairman, and membership Dr. Abdul Rahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority, and Mr. Faris Mustafa Al-Kooheji, Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Ansari, CEO of the National Health Regulatory Authority, and Dr. Lulwah Rashid Showaiter, Under Secretary Ministry of Health. According to the decision, the committee is responsible for overseeing all matters relating to sports medicine, especially in terms of the diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries and diseases that affect the sports performance of athletes and players in various sports clubs and teams affiliated with Bahraini sports federations. , and providing medical and nutritional advice to athletes, as well as diagnosing and treating various sports injuries, according to the latest treatment methods and methods, selecting hospitals, specialist medical centers and doctors with experience in the field of sports medicine, and determining. the level of medical care for athletes and its costs. The committee also specializes in diagnosing and treating conditions that affect the sports performance of players and physical therapists in sports clubs and federations, and improving the sports performance of players, physical therapists and sports teams, by providing recommendations for nutrition, training and modern. techniques related to sports performance, and the provision of health services to athletes and players. Maintaining their health and preventing injuries and diseases, as well as preparing the necessary studies, research and proposals to establish specialist centers in the field of sports medicine, and fostering partnerships with specialist and higher medical bodies in the field of sports medicine.
