Revolutionizing Travel: Fuxing High-Speed Trains Set to Debut on Beijing-Hong Kong and Shanghai-Hong Kong Routes This October
China Upgrades High-Speed Rail Sleeper Trains to Fuxing Intelligent Trains
China State Railway Group has announced that the high-speed rail sleeper trains between Beijing West and Shanghai Hongqiao and Hong Kong West Kowloon will be fully upgraded starting from October 1, and the new Fuxing intelligent sleeper train will be put into service.
The upgrade includes reducing train travel time, changing stops along the route, and delaying Hong Kong driving time. The facilities in the carriages have also been improved, and the quality of service has been further enhanced, allowing passengers to enjoy the advantage of arriving in the morning.
After the modernization of high-speed rail trains between Beijing-Hong Kong and Shanghai-Hong Kong, the maximum speed will be increased from 250 kilometers per hour to 300 kilometers per hour, and the travel time will be shortened. For example, train G897 will depart from Beijing West Railway Station at 8.13pm and arrive at Hong Kong West Kowloon Station at 7.45am the next morning, which is 62 minutes faster than the current train.

In terms of equipment, the upgraded Fuxing intelligent sleeper train will consist of 16 cars, with a total capacity of 652 passengers, which is increased compared to the existing Beijing-Hong Kong and Shanghai-Hong Kong trains. The carriages are equipped with special class seating, second class seats and berths, and are equipped with barrier-free facilities for disabled passengers.
The carriages use ergonomic seats, while the berths are equipped with multifunctional service devices, providing amenities such as reading lights and power sockets. The trains also use intelligent maintenance systems to further improve driving safety and reliability.
In addition, the sound insulation and noise reduction design inside the train has also been completely upgraded to provide passengers with a quieter travel environment. Introducing butler service for the first time, flight attendants will also act as on-duty butlers, providing services including accommodation and catering, and launching signature Cantonese-style catering to further enhance passengers’ travel experience.
Tickets for the Fuxing smart sleeper train went on sale on September 25.
