The Greens in Rhineland-Palatinate have set their themes for the state election campaign. Democracy projects are a key focus. The Greens want to spend around 130 million euros on this in the next legislative period.
In addition, they are making any future participation in government after the state election dependent on commitment to banning the AfD. This was decided by delegates from the district executive committees at the campaign launch in Mainz, the party announced.
24/7 Support for Those Facing Hostility
The Greens also want to establish a 24/7 support center for people affected by hostility adn violence, to ensure that help can be provided quickly around the clock, every day.
Target groups include teachers who are being attacked because their democracy lessons are allegedly not neutral, as well as volunteer mayors and council members who refuse to make community centers available to right-wing extremists and receive threatening letters as a result. Equality officers, who are being targeted online for their work and initiatives, are also among the target groups.
