Today Riga celebrates its 824th anniversary, and the streets of the capital will be filled with music, theater, workshops and various festive activities.
The festival morning will begin at Dome Square with the Craftsmen’s Market, where masters from all over Latvia will offer both traditional and modern handicrafts. From the afternoon, the Old Town will feature street musicians and mime, but the November 11 embankment will turn into a festive epicenter with environmental installations, taste adventures, history stories, antique car debts and concerts.
On the big stage, Catherine Diamond and Group Zeltra, Būu, Musiqq, Rolands Che, as well as Intars Busulis, along with the subscription orchestra, will step on the big stage today.
In the evening there will be a special concert performance of other Song Festival, but after 10 pm, the program Riga tomorrow with DJ sets will begin, which will offer a variety of electronic music.
The Vermane Garden will turn into a cultural and entertainment area with theatrical performances, music programs, creative workshops and magic shows at the festival. In the Victory Park, the alternative Riga will take place – discussions, performances, sports activities and concerts that will attract special youth audiences.
Riga’s birthday will also be in the sporty Esplanade, where the basketball tournament will take place on the coastal match, as well as a football festival with children and youth competitions and the Star Cup at the Congress House.
Rigans and guests of the city today are invited to celebrate Riga in all its diversity – from historical testimonies to contemporary art, from taste enjoyment to sports passion.
