Overseas Vietnamese Community Rallies to Support Flood Relief Efforts
The overseas Vietnamese community has come together to provide support to those affected by recent natural disasters in the country. One of the first supports sent by overseas Vietnamese was through the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, joining hands with compatriots in the country to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
Donations and Fundraising Efforts
The Kansai Vietnamese Women’s Association and Cay Tre Vietnamese Language School have donated 1 ton of rice to support those in need. Mr. Vu Hoang Duc, Chairman of the Vietnam – Japan Economic Cooperation Promotion Association, coordinated with the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka to send a donation from the Association’s Executive Committee.
Mr. Do Quang Ba, Vietnam Japan International Exchange Organization (FAVIJA), launched a fundraising campaign to support people affected by storms and floods. FAVIJA will organize two community football tournaments in the Chubu region (Shizuoka province) and the Kyushu region (Fukuoka province) on September 15, with charity donation boxes on the main stage to support people affected by natural disasters.
Each member of FAVIJA across Japan has donated at least 1,000 Japanese yen. The FAVIJA delegation will return to the country from September 19-21, 2024, to directly provide support to those in difficulty affected by typhoon Yagi.
A Call to Action
Mr. Nguyen Hong Son, President of the Federation of Vietnamese Associations in Japan, expressed his gratitude for the immediate response from associations, businesses, and individuals in Japan. He affirmed that the Federation of Vietnamese Associations in Japan will continue the campaign to call for long-term support for localities in the affected areas.
With the cooperation of businesses, entrepreneurs, and the entire Vietnamese community in Japan, the Federation hopes to bring warmth and support to those affected, helping them to quickly overcome hardship and return to normal life.
