The video is an administrative audit of the recently held regular meeting of the Wonju City Council, and contains questions and answers between two members of the city council and the executive department of the Wonju City Hall regarding the Wonju MMA Sports Festival (Road FC competition) to be maintained. on the 24th.
In the video, Councilor A said, “A while ago, there was an article in Wonju. A martial arts man who knocked out a woman in her 40s. It became an incident by kicking a passer-by on the street, and the perpetrator was an ex-martial artist. I don’t know what kind of benefit Wonju City gets from the competition (Road FC), but since stigma can definitely persist, school violence starts as a joke at first and causes various problems, parents are very sensitive to violence, and society itself I also go with that kind of atmosphere, but I have doubts if it is really right to attract a big sporting event to Wonju without considering these things. Who is responsible for negative effects on Wonju City? “
In addition, city council member B said, “Why is mixed martial arts (mixed martial arts) not played in the Olympics?”
Regarding this, the city administration responded, “It does not seem reasonable to equate the deviation of a person who was a martial arts athlete with people who participate in all sports activities and those who train their bodies.” As for the negative impact, “The business itself is involved in sporting events, and it’s a game to the end. It was promoted in the part of improving the image of the city, not to spoil the image of the city. Road FC matches were held not only in Wonju, but also in other cities such as Seoul and Daegu. The equation that a city that did not host such a game does not make it a violent city,” he explained.
In this regard, Road FC strongly protested, saying, “Members of the city council were splashed with cold water before the Wonju MMA Sports Festival.” Through this video, Road FC called for an apology and measures to prevent this from happening again, saying, “Mixed martial arts is a non-violent sport.”
Meanwhile, Road FC will host the Wonju MMA Sports Festival from June 24 to 25 at the Wonju Gym. The Goobne ROAD FC 064 professional competition is held on the first day, and the Mixed Martial Arts Festival, an amateur competition, is held on the second day. In Goobne ROAD FC 064, a world quarter tournament will be held, and a large number of strong players, including Road FC bantamweight and lightweight champions, will participate.
