During a speech at an American university, Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck spoke out in exceptionally clear terms for more problem-solving skills in politics. “Solve the fucking problems we have now,” said the Federal Economics Minister (Greens) on Friday in a speech to students at New York’s Columbia University. Politicians should not simply pass problems on to the next generation. In view of a changing world, thinking must also change, emphasized Habeck. “Politics does not mean repeating what you thought was right 30 years ago, but dealing with reality as it is, as you find it.” Habeck’s speech was about trade policy and the change towards a more climate-friendly economy. The USA threatened to miss its climate targets. “I hear a lot of talk and I know that your government has made the decision to become climate neutral like Europe in 2050.
