Lindor’s Two homers Sink Rockies, Extend Road Losing Streak

Francisco Lindor’s pair of solo home runs bookended the New York Mets’ 4-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Friday. The Mets triumphed at Citi Field,further compounding the Rockies’ woes this season.
The Rockies have now lost six straight games, plummeting to a 9-48 record, including a dismal 3-26 on the road. Their current trajectory projects to a 26-136 season.
Kyle Freeland, a Denver native, delivered a quality start for Colorado, but was outdueled by fellow Colorado high school graduate David Peterson. Peterson pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing one run on five hits, while Freeland surrendered three runs over six innings. Ryan McMahon’s RBI double in the fifth accounted for the rockies’ first run.

peterson’s strong outing improved his record to 4-2 with a 2.69 ERA. He has been particularly effective at home, allowing only one home run in eight starts this season. Against Colorado, Peterson is 3-1 with a 1.99 ERA in five career starts.
A glimmer of hope appeared for Colorado in the seventh when Sam Hilliard,recently recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque,launched a pinch-hit home run,narrowing the Mets’ lead to 3-2.However, Lindor’s second homer in the eighth inning effectively sealed the game.
