Roh Tae-woo’s son pays tribute to Chun Doo-hwan’s funeral… “Lesson? I am not going to mention it.”

Major figures in the political and business circles were hardly seen.

Roh Jae-heon, the eldest son of the late former President Roh Tae-woo, visited the mortuary for about 15 minutes and talked with the bereaved family. After meeting with reporters after the condolences, Mr. Noh said, “I have a long-standing family relationship, and he came to my father’s funeral a while ago, so he gave me a lot of comfort and condolences.” When asked about ‘the lesson of the deceased’, he simply said, “It’s not something I’m going to mention.” On this day too, former senior economic secretary Sa Gong-il, former Joint Chiefs of Staff Kim Yun-ho, former Army Chief of Staff Park Hee-do, and former Air Force Chief of Staff Kim Sang-tae continued to visit the burial place.

After the death of former President Jeon Jae-man, his third son, who returned from the United States and received a PCR test for COVID-19, arrived at the mortuary on the same day. The second daughter-in-law, actress Park Sang-ah, also appeared. The inauguration ceremony of the former president was held around 5 pm on the same day, with three sons including Jeon Jae-guk and Jeon Jae-yong and the bereaved family including the eldest daughter Jeon Hyo-seon in attendance. According to the bereaved family, the former president’s body will be cremated and then temporarily moved to his home in Yeonhui-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul to determine a burial place.

In the political arena, Rep. Kim Seok-ki of People’s Strength was the fourth member of the active-duty lawmaker to pay condolences. Earlier, floor leader Kim Ki-hyeon of People’s Power, Joo Ho-young, and Yoon Sang-hyun visited the mortuary. Democratic Party lawmakers are not looking for a mortuary. Former ambassador to Japan Kwon Cheol-hyun, former Gyeongbuk governor Kim Kwan-yong, former lawmaker Min Kyung-wook and former United Future Party leader Hwang Kyo-ahn also visited the funeral. “The performance of all leaders will be evaluated historically,” Hwang said. About 20 members of 5.18-related organizations, including the Seoul Branch of the May 18th Democratization Movement Injured People’s Association and the National Victims’ Association of Samcheong Education University, held a press conference at the entrance to the mortuary on the same day and said, “Even now, the family of Chun Doo-hwan apologizes to the victims of the 5. and give back to the Republic of Korea.”
