Students from Daishoji Jitsugyo High School in Kaga City have been actively participating in community service by cleaning up the local area around IR Daishoji Station. The initiative, led by the school’s judo and table tennis clubs, aims to promote a cleaner environment and foster a sense of community.
The cleaning activities, which take place once a month, involve students from both clubs working together to pick up trash and debris along the roadside. The initiative was proposed by Nobuyuki Wakabayashi, the judo club’s advisor, who encouraged the students to become a positive presence in the local community.
Hiroya Yoshii, the judo club captain, emphasized the importance of community service, stating, “We want to become a team that can be supported by the local community through our activities.” Mitsuyuki Yamashita, the table tennis club captain, added, “We believe that the support of the local community is essential for our success, and we want to contribute to the community through volunteering and other activities.”
The students’ efforts have not gone unnoticed, with an 82-year-old local resident expressing his gratitude and admiration for the young people’s initiative. Wakabayashi noted, “The school is supported by the local community, and we want to give back by working with the students and becoming a school that is recognized by the local community.”
In October, the school plans to expand its community service efforts by organizing cleanup activities around the hot springs in the three hot spring areas of Yamashiro, Yamanaka, and Katayamazu. The event will coincide with the school’s 60th anniversary celebrations and will involve other clubs and students from the school.
