Royal Challengers Bangalore Set to Part Ways with Coaching Staff: Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar in Jeopardy

Bengaluru Team Likely to Make Changes to Coaching Staff

Reports Suggest Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar May Be Replaced

Bengaluru, 16th July 2023 – The coaching staff of the IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore are reportedly set to be replaced, according to recent reports. Head of cricket operations, Mike Hesson, and head coach, Sanjay Bangar, are said to be on the way out.

The contracts of both Hesson and Bangar are up for renewal in September, but there are indications that the franchise is considering a change. Their performance will be closely monitored before a final decision is made.

Mike Hesson has been overseeing cricket operations for the Bangalore team in the IPL women’s competition. However, the team’s performance under his guidance has been lackluster, finishing fourth out of five teams.

At present, no further details regarding their departure have been disclosed. Some media outlets have released this news, sparking speculation about the team’s future plans.

The star-studded Bengaluru team has yet to claim the IPL title. Mike Hesson joined the team in 2019, while Sanjay Bangar was appointed head coach for the 2022 season following the resignation of Australian coach Simon Katich.

In 2020, the team finished fourth in the group stage but suffered elimination at the hands of Hyderabad in the playoffs. The same fate befell them in 2021 when they finished third but were knocked out by Kolkata Knight Riders in the eliminator.

This year, the team secured fourth place but faltered against Rajasthan Royals in the qualifiers, failing to advance to the playoffs.
