Royal Recovery: British Crown Princess Reveals Brave Battle with Cancer is Finally Won
Kate Middleton Completes Chemotherapy for Cancer
Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge and wife of Britain’s Prince William, has completed chemotherapy for cancer, the Duchess of Cambridge has announced.
On September 9th, the Crown Princess uploaded a video to X (formerly Twitter) saying, “I am glad to say that I have finally completed chemotherapy treatment as summer is coming to an end.” The video message came five months after the Crown Princess revealed in a video message on March 22 that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy.
“My focus is to do what I can to stay cancer free,” she said. “I’ve completed chemotherapy, but the journey to remission is a long one and I have to take each day as it comes. But I’m looking forward to getting back to work and doing a few more things in the coming months, if I can.”
The BBC reports that Kensington Palace, the crown prince’s representative, is unable to say at this stage whether the crown princess is cancer-free. Kensington Palace sources told the outlet that there is a long way to go before she fully recovers and that the crown princess will focus on her health in the coming months.
“The past nine months have been very difficult for our family,” the Crown Princess said in the video. “Life can change in an instant, and we’ve had to find a way to navigate the stormy seas and the paths we take.”
While saying, “The cancer journey is complicated, scary, and unpredictable for anyone,” she encouraged other cancer patients by saying, “I am here with you. There is light that can break through the darkness, so let that light shine.”
The Crown Princess has made rare public appearances since revealing her cancer diagnosis. She attended the Order of the Cross, the official birthday celebration of her father-in-law, King Charles III, on June 15, and presented an award to the winner of the Wimbledon final, which she sponsors, on July 14. The BBC reported that the Crown Princess is scheduled to attend several more public events this year.
King Charles III was also diagnosed with cancer around the same time as the Crown Princess and is undergoing treatment. The King first made his cancer diagnosis public in February and continued his work at home, returning to public affairs in late April.
