Rudy Giuliani Urges Support for Democratic Change in Iran at UN Rally

Demands for Regime Change and Rejection of Accommodation

During his remarks, Giuliani urged the international community to break off any further accommodation with Tehran, calling instead for political change driven directly by the Iranian population. He voiced backing for both the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the NCRI, identifying them as an organized alternative to the ruling system. Giuliani also drew attention to Mrs. Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan, which advocates for free elections, gender equality, an independent judiciary, minority rights, and a non-nuclear Iran. Rejecting both the current clerical leadership and efforts to restore the monarchy, Giuliani argued in favor of establishing a representative democratic republic. Reaffirming solidarity with the Iranian Resistance movement, he expressed hope that supporters would eventually gather in a free Tehran under a government chosen through free elections.

Broader Coalition Voices at the UN Rally

The September 23 rally featured multiple speakers who criticized the presence of the Iranian delegation at the United Nations. Former U.S. Senator Robert Torricelli addressed world leaders entering the UN General Assembly, challenging the legitimacy of Pezeshkian’s appearance and pointing to Resistance Units and young activists operating inside Iran. Torricelli similarly rejected both clerical rule and the prospect of a restored monarchy, stating that the political alternative should be anchored in the Iranian people. Ambassador Marc Ginsberg also spoke at the demonstration, emphasizing the urgency of translating international solidarity into political action. Ginsberg highlighted human rights abuses documented inside Iran, including the imprisonment and torture of political prisoners and young citizens, while drawing a distinction between supporting democratic change and deploying U.S. forces into another war.
