[디지털투데이 AI리포터] Major foreign media, including IT media Tech Radar, reported on the 23rd (local time) that there is a possibility that all physical buttons will disappear in Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 series, which is scheduled to be released this fall.

Previously, Chinese media outlet Economic Daily reported that Apple had ordered a system-in-package (SIP) module from Taiwan’s Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) to replace the physical buttons on both sides of the iPhone 16 series with capacitive touch buttons .

It is reported that Taptic Engine components have also been added, which allow users to feel vibration feedback when pressing the capacitive touch button. As a result, there is a possibility that the iPhone 16 series will come with a capacitive touch button. The capacitive touch button gives the same effect as if the button were pressed with a simple touch, rather than pressing the Home button directly.

This isn’t the first time Apple has tried capacitive touch buttons. Last year it was rumored that the iPhone 15 would switch to capacitive buttons, but the introduction was canceled due to various problems, such as hardware, during the development phase.

Meanwhile, media reported that the introduction of capacitive touch buttons for the iPhone 16 has not been decided and may change in the future development stage.
