In a bold and alarming move, reports have emerged that Russia dispatched a total of 28 kamikaze drones to launch devastating attacks on the cities of Odessa and Kiev. These attacks took place mere hours before the commencement of the much-anticipated NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania.

On the morning of Tuesday, July 11, 2023, foreign news agencies were ablaze with the news of these brazen assaults. Odessa, a prominent southern port city, and the capital of Ukraine, Kiev, were the primary targets of this sinister operation initiated by Russia. The timing of these attacks, just prior to the NATO summit, has sent shockwaves through the international community.

Authorities from the Ukrainian Air Force have confirmed that their air defense system successfully downed a significant number of Iranian-built kamikaze drones that were deployed by Russia. A total of 26 drones were neutralized in the attack on Odessa, while all the drones set to target Kiev were intercepted and shot down. However, the debris resulting from the intercepts caused damages to approximately 12 residential properties, marking the second air strike on Kiev this month.

Meanwhile, against this backdrop of escalating tensions, the NATO summit in Vilnius hosted leaders from 31 NATO member countries. The purpose of this two-day summit, held on July 11-12, was centered around addressing the urgent matter of the Russian invasion and exploring potential negotiations regarding the admission of both Sweden and Ukraine into NATO.

In a notable moment at the summit, the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, warmly greeted the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, exemplifying the unity and solidarity amongst NATO allies.
