The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced on the 22nd (local time) that it had been confirmed that Russia had used missiles from North Korea in several attacks, killing more than 20 people.
According to AFP, the SBU said, “According to the investigation, the Russian military fired more than 20 weapons made by North Korea over Ukraine, killing at least 24 civilians and seriously wounding more than 100.”
Authorities identified the North Korean-made weapon used in the attack as a “Hwasong-11 short-range ballistic missile.”
Earlier this month, Ukrainian police announced that two ‘Hwasong-11’ short-range ballistic missiles were used in an airstrike in Kharkiv.
North Korea is under a UN arms embargo following its first nuclear test in 2006, and UN Security Council resolutions against North Korea strictly prohibit trade in arms and military equipment with North Korea.
