Russian government spokesman warns against world peace summit on Ukraine without Russia’s participation

Russian government spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview published today (March 26) that holding a world peace summit on Ukraine without Russia’s participation would be “inappropriate.” and that it will fail completely.

Peskov also told the Argumenty I Fakty news agency that Russia continues its military operations in Ukraine. to protect themselves from the Western nations

“Can the Ukrainian problem be solved without Russia’s participation? The answer is clearly no,” Peskov said in an interview on Thursday, a day before the mass shooting at a concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow.

“That is because Ukraine is being used as a tool by the West. who intends to use Ukraine to increase the pressure on Russia to control Russia and has been relegated to the margins of development And if the West succeeds They intend to eliminate Russia,” Peskov added.

Reuters news agency said that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has called for an international peace summit. as previously Switzerland has announced that it will host this conference. The date and details of various discussions are currently being considered.

on the other side Russian President Vladimir Putin has condemned the Ukrainian peace plan as “impractical”. The plan calls for the Russian army to withdraw from Ukraine. and return all territory occupied to Ukraine along its borders in 1991, including Crimea, which Russia occupied and annexed in 2014.

Mr Peskov emphasized that the plan was unacceptable to Russia. They also condemned plans discussed by the European Union and other countries to take profits from Russian assets and give them to Ukraine.

“I believe that European nations understand that we will vigorously challenge this decision. This may not be a problem that will be solved within a year. But it could stretch the membrane for decades,” Peskov said.
