Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy to Debut in England-India Test Series

This summer, the Test series between England and India will feature a new trophy: the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy. it is indeed named for Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson, two of cricket’s most celebrated players.
The trophy will be unveiled before the five-match series begins June 20 at Headingley.The England and Wales Cricket Board declined to comment on the change.
Tendulkar, an Indian icon, holds the record for most Test runs with 15,921. He played 200 Tests from 1989-2013. Anderson is England’s all-time leading wicket-taker and the most successful pace bowler in Test cricket, with 704 wickets.
Anderson, 42, retired from international cricket last summer.He now works as England’s bowling consultant and plays county cricket for lancashire.
Tendulkar and Anderson faced each other in 14 Tests.Anderson dismissed Tendulkar nine times, more than any other bowler.
This tribute mirrors the Crowe-Thorpe trophy, named after Martin Crowe (New Zealand) and Graham Thorpe (England). England won the Test series 2-1 when it was first contested during England’s tour of New Zealand last year.
Previously, England-India Test series in the U.K.where played for the Pataudi Trophy,named after the Pataudi family. the Nawab of Pataudi played for both England and India in the 1930s and 40s. His son captained India in the 1960s and 70s.The Pataudi family has been informed of the trophy change.
