Sink told Deadline that Matarazzo and other “Stranger Things” cast members attended the play’s opening night.She emphasized Matarazzo’s enthusiasm for her Broadway debut, noting their shared passion for theatre.
Matarazzo, who has also graced the Broadway stage, most recently in “Sweeney Todd” in 2023, has seen Sink’s play multiple times. Sink herself debuted on Broadway in the 2012 revival of “Annie” and later appeared in “The Audience” in 2015.
“A lot of them came opening night, which was really nice,” she said. “Gaten has been a huge supporter so he was super proud… I know how much he loves Broadway, and the fact that he was willing to go back so many times, that’s just pure theatre kid joy and passion right there.”
Sink also revealed she attended both the London and New York productions of the ”Stranger Things” spin-off play, “The First Shadow.” She hinted that the play contains clues about the highly anticipated fifth and final season of the Netflix hit.
“There are definitely some easter eggs I spotted for sure,” she teased.
