Salesforce’s first-quarter earnings exceeded expectations, with revenue climbing ​8% to $9.83 billion.​ The company also recently announced‍ its plan to acquire Informatica, a data management firm, for $8 billion. This ‌marks Salesforce’s largest⁢ acquisition ⁢as it bought Slack for $27.1 billion⁢ in 2021. The Salesforce Informatica deal is expected to bolster data management capabilities.

CEO Marc Benioff’s compensation for fiscal year 2025, which ended⁤ Jan. 31, 2025, totaled over ‌$55⁣ million, according to the company’s proxy ⁢statement. This included a $1.55 million base⁣ salary and a $2,500 bonus, consistent with the previous year. However, his stock and option awards saw ​important‍ increases.⁣ The ⁢ CEO pay package⁤ also⁤ covered more than $4 million‌ in personal security expenses ‍and over $500,000 for aircraft use.

The median employee at Salesforce ‌earned $178,949 ‍in total compensation during the same period. This means Benioff’s earnings were approximately 308 times greater ‌than those ‍of ⁢the typical Salesforce employee. in fiscal year 2024,‍ the ⁤median employee compensation was $164,985, ⁣with Benioff earning 240 times more.

Simultaneously occurring, Salesforce is adjusting its hiring strategies, leveraging AI to enhance productivity.Robin Washington, the company’s ⁢chief‌ financial and operations officer, noted that AI⁣ has enabled them to reduce hiring in⁢ certain areas. while some roles are being scaled back, the sales team ⁤is‍ expanding by 22%​ this‍ year.
