Samsung Launches Innovation Campus Program in Vietnam at Hoa Lac National Innovation Center

An Innovation Campus program run by Samsung opened at Vietnam’s National Innovation Center.

According to Vietnamese local media VietnamPlus on the 3rd, on this day in Hanoi, Samsung held an opening ceremony for the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) technology talent development program for the 2023-2024 school year at the Hoa Lac NIC complex together with Vietnam. At the event, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc expressed Samsung’s determination and efforts to cooperate with Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment, the National Innovation Center and various organizations to develop advanced technology capabilities for the young generation of Vietnam highly appreciated.

Accordingly, Samsung will cooperate with NIC to hold two artificial intelligence (AI) courses, two Internet of Things (IoT) courses, and two big data courses for about 200 students at Hanoi National University and FPT University.

This course will be held at the Samsung Innovation Campus Lab at NIC Hoa Lac from May to August 2024.

The training content was selected through a stratified survey in accordance with the hiring demand in large companies and regional industrial development trends. In addition to specialist knowledge, the program also provides students with content related to career development.

Students who complete the course and achieve the desired results will not only receive a Samsung Innovation Campus course certificate, but will also have the opportunity to participate in various activities, including participating in innovative technology competitions.

In particular, Korean language training support is provided to students participating in the SIC program. Students also have time to meet engineers working at the Samsung R&D Center and learn more about their future career direction in the IT field. Students who achieve excellent grades after participating in the program will be given internships and work opportunities at the Samsung Research and Development Center in Vietnam. The Samsung R&D Center in Vietnam is Samsung Electronics’ largest R&D center in Southeast Asia to date, with an investment of approximately $220 million (approximately KRW 299 billion).

With the aim of improving the sustainability of education in the future, the SIC program also organizes courses for teachers to improve their professional competences and supplement their practical teaching skills. The teacher training course was designed by leading experts from Samsung as well as leading research facilities and universities across the country.

At the event, Choi Joo-ho, head of the Samsung Vietnam Complex, said, “I believe that the Samsung Innovation Campus program, which was officially launched today, will become a representative model for youth education.”

Moreover, he emphasized that it is a program run by Samsung, Vietnam’s largest foreign direct investment (FDI) company, for top students in prestigious universities, and is held at the National Innovation Center, where the Vietnamese government has concentrated many resources.
