[OSEN=손찬익 기자] Can Ryu Hyun-jin and Kim Ha-seong play together for the San Diego Padres?

On the 31st (Korea time), San Diego’s local media outlet ‘East Village Times’ published an article presenting starting pitchers worthy of consideration by the San Diego team, expressing the opinion that Ryu Hyun-jin should be recruited.

The media said, “San Diego has strengthened its starting lineup by recruiting young pitchers such as Johnny Brito, Randy Vasquez, and Drew Thorpe, but the need for experienced and proven pitchers remains paramount.”

He continued, “There was an opinion that former New York Yankees pitcher Domingo Hermann should be recruited, but there is no reason for San Diego to be obsessed with a player like Hermann. He was also sentenced to a severe 81-game suspension for assaulting his player. Bringing in a player like this “It shouldn’t be done,” he stressed.

The East Village Times, which selected Ryu Hyun-jin as a player who should be recruited, submitted, “San Diego fans will be very familiar with Ryu Hyun-jin. As a free agent lefty, he played for the LA Dodgers for six years and then spent four years with the Toronto Blue Jays.”

He also said, “He was unable to play properly this season due to the result of surgery on the left elbow ligament joint, but after returning in August, he showed a reliable and consistent performance. Through 11 starts, he left with 3 wins, 3 losses , and an average ERA of 3.46.”

The media gave a favorable review, saying, “Ryu Hyun-jin is efficient, knows how to throw strikes, and has excellent innings consumption ability,” and emphasized that Ryu Hyun-jin’s utility value is high, citing various indicators detailed such as walk rate and ground ball rate as examples.

Above all, it was predicted that Ryu Hyun-jin’s strengths could be doubled at Petco Park, a pitcher-friendly stadium. The media predicted, “This could help Ryu Hyun-jin throw more comfortably at Petco Park, a pitcher-friendly stadium.”

Meanwhile, the New York Mets, who need to bolster their starting lineup, are also showing great interest in Ryu Hyun-jin. On the 30th, the American media ‘New York Post’ included Ryu Hyun-jin, Sean Manea, and Mike Clevinger as starting candidates for the Mets, who missed out on Yoshinobu Yamamoto (LA Dodgers) and Giolito.

If the experienced Ryu Hyun-jin is added to Senga Kodai, Jose Quintana, Luis Severino, and Adrian Hauser, they can become quite competitive in the National League East Division.
