Milan Council to Vote on San siro Stadium Sale by Month’s End
Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala announced that a resolution regarding the sale of the San Siro stadium will be presented to the Milan City Council, perhaps as early as tomorrow. He stated that agreements have been reached with the football clubs involved, describing the situation as having “come to an anchor.”
Speaking on RTL 102.5 radio, Mayor Sala emphasized the urgency of the situation, linking the stadium’s future to Milan’s bid to host matches during the UEFA European Championship in 2032. According to Sala, UEFA has indicated that Milan will not be considered as a host city if the San Siro remains in its current state, requiring the stadium to be ready by 2031.
The mayor clarified the process, stating that the resolution will undergo review by city council commissions adn be subject to discussion before a final vote. ”I want to have a conscience in place, I will bring the resolution to the Council and support approval, I will vote in favor, then he will decide the city council,” Sala said, adding that the entire process is expected to conclude by the end of the month.
