Sanju Samson disappointed; Collapse for Kerala chasing the score against Haryana

Mohali: Kerala lost the wicket of Sanju Samson (3), who entered the innings with a target of 132 runs against Haryana in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Kerala are 87 for five in 14 overs when the information is finally available in the match to be played in Mohali. Krishna Prasad (9) and Sijoman Joseph (4) are at the top. Rahul Tewatia took two wickets. Earlier, an innings by Jayant Yadav (39) and Sumit Kumar (30) guided Haryana to a manageable score. Kerala top Group C with eight points after winning their last two matches. Haryana is second. Kerala’s high run rate keeps it at number one. Kerala defeated Arunachal Pradesh and Karnataka.

After adding 52 runs on the opening wicket, Kerala’s opening partnership crumbled. Rohan was bowled by Jayant Yadav. Sanju had just four balls to spare, and came out in third place. Amit Mishra, who scored three runs, brought the captaincy to Himanshu Rana. With this, Kerala were 57 for two. Vishnu Vinod (25) also returned after adding two more runs on the scoreboard. Sachin Baby (4) didn’t live long either. The player was brought down in front of the wicket by Tewatia’s ball. Muhammad Azharuddin (13) was run out and Kerala suffered a setback. Apart from Tewatia, Mishra and Jayant took a wicket each.

Earlier, Haryana’s top three players were out without finding two figures. Ankit Kumar (0), Chaitanya Bishnoi (5) and Himanshu Rana (9) failed to shine. Nishant Sindhu (10), who came to the fourth round, was also disappointed. Pramod Chandhila (24) and Dinesh Bana (10) were dismissed as Haryana were reduced to 62 for six. Then the partnership of Sumit Kumar (30 not out) and Jayant was born. Jayant came out in the last turn. The Giant’s innings included one six and five fours. Rahul Tewatia (0) remained unbeaten. This is also the match where Sanju returned as the captain of the Kerala team.Sanju will join the team after the ODI series against South Africa. Sanju did not play in the first two matches. Apart from Karnataka and Haryana, there is no team in the group that can challenge Kerala. Services, Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir are subject to disruption. But with Sanju’s return, the team will be stronger.
