The Santa Monica Police Department has released a photo of the suspect. Officials believe they are “almost 100% accurate” in their assessment that the same person was involved in both incidents, according to police.
The Wednesday shooting prompted a meaningful police response near Santa Monica Place, close to the 3rd Street Promenade.
Santa Monica Mayor Lana Negrete addressed the situation, stating, “We are lucky that within a short amount of time, we were able to apprehend the individual and he is no longer on the street.”
