What is Measles?

Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that can led to serious complications and even death. The virus spreads through droplets from the nose, mouth, and pharynx of infected individuals.

Vaccination⁤ is the most effective way to prevent measles. The recommended schedule involves a first dose of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine,⁢ also known as SPR1, at 12 months of age and a⁤ second dose at 18 months.

Measles spreads directly from person to person through respiratory ⁢droplets and through the dispersion of airborne droplets that come⁣ into contact with the ‍upper airways or conjunctiva. It is indeed one of the most ⁤contagious infectious diseases.

Measles ‍Symptoms

The primary symptoms of measles include fever and a skin rash that spreads throughout the body.

Other symptoms may include cough, conjunctivitis (inflammation of the conjunctiva), ‍and nasal mucus.
