Sara Duterte Threatens to Kill President Marcos

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia – In a shocking statement, Philippines Vice President Sara Duterte announced she would order the assassination of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. if she were killed.

Sara revealed during a press conference that she had spoken to a hitman and instructed him to kill Marcos, his wife Liza Araneta, and Speaker of the House Martin Romualdez if she is harmed. “I told him, if I’m killed, kill BBM, Liza, and Martin. No joking. No joking,” she stated.

This declaration has prompted the Philippine Palace to promise serious action in response.

Sara’s recent outburst reflects ongoing tensions in Philippine politics. Last October, she accused Marcos of incompetence and expressed violent thoughts toward him. Their disputes have involved disagreements over foreign policy and the previous administration’s drug war led by former President Rodrigo Duterte, Sara’s father.

In the Philippine political landscape, the vice president is elected separately from the president and usually carries out social development activities, unlike many who are appointed to cabinet positions.

Sara Duterte, often called a “nepo baby,” previously resigned from the cabinet in June but retained her vice presidency. This indicated a breakdown in the political alliance that helped secure their 2022 election victory.

Since 2007, Sara served as Vice Mayor of Davao and later became the city’s first female Mayor, holding the position multiple times until her vice presidential candidacy alongside Marcos in 2022.
